Another Great Memory from Mansfield

Phish at Comcast Center, Mansfield MA

Feeling like new men and refreshed with dry clothes, we headed for a backdoor entrance to what us old timers call “Great Woods”. The drive was lovely and we snuck in with no traffic (a first for both of us). The lots were INSANE and the scene was that of a celebratory beach party. We met up with some friends (Scotty G!) and had some surprise encounters as well.

The sun was beating down on us as we entered the venue and sold off our blow pops. Our seats were in the first section of the old lawn and we immediately met some great young rockers (the Minery twins and friend). Our faith in humanity was once again restored as we let them borrow our tickets to “stub down” their friends from the lawn, and they returned. After that we had phriends for the whole show, and more great neighbors.

The show itself was another amazing night of music, lights, grooves, and laughs. They played some songs lower on my list of favs, but ROCKED them so well I loved every one! The end of set 1 was the highlight for me and Taste is now way up on my list due to the way they played that number last night. Makisups Policeman, and Prince Caspian finished us off wanting more! This show built in intensity so well every song in set two was a face melter. Seven Below was a wish granted for me, and Fluffhead was the most incredible musical journey of the night.

They ended with two sing-alongs, Contact and Julius, that had us grooving to the very end. We bid farewell to our new friends and headed to the insanity of the exit from Mansfield, and eventually back to our warm beds and dry clothes at the hotel.

I've had some incredible shows at this Great Venue of Mass. and it was great to add this show to my memory bank. I saw my first real concerts at this place and it was a sentimental night filled with floods of great memories.

New Jersey is up next and the “real” roadtrip as we head out of New England.
